Hikari IntestiPro^® is a powdered formula that was developed to offer the hobbyist an effective way to treat intestinal worm issues suffered by their pond, freshwater or marine fishes. Before adding to your aquarium, roll the bottle back and forth on a flat surface for at least two minutes.

We recommend using the bath treatment method for protozoan-caused intestinal issues. Treatments should be continuous and may require up to 10 sessions. Always add aeration during treatment. For bath treatments, follow these instructions:

• Remove any activated carbon from filters. Rinse or replace mechanical filtration media if needed. Do not stop filtration completely, as this can harm your nitrogen cycle.
• For best results, change at least 30% of the water (using ClorAm-X®, Ultimate®, or RO water) before the first treatment and before each retreatment.
• Use one teaspoon (~10g) per 20 gallons (76L) of water every three days to achieve a concentration of about 5 mg/L Metronidazole and 2.5 mg/L Praziquantel.
• Before retreatment, change at least 30% of your aquarium water.
• If there is no improvement within six days, stop treatment and consider other options.

We recommend the oral treatment method for systemic (internal) infections. IntestiPro® can be mixed with fish food or used as part of prepared food. When used as directed, it will not harm biological filtration. For oral treatments, follow these instructions:

• Refer to our article on how to make medicated feed using either a gelatin-based or dry food-based mix. The gelatin-based method creates food that sinks quickly, while the dry food method results in sinking food depending on the ingredients you use.
• Feed the medicated food in place of the regular diet. Offer at least two feedings daily, giving the amount your fish will finish within a few minutes (no more than 5 minutes). Remove any uneaten food after feeding to prevent environmental issues.
• Continue feeding for at least three days after all signs of disease have disappeared. Stop using the medicated feed once the fish are cured, and NEVER use it as regular food when not treating disease.
• You may combine feedings with bath or dip treatments using the same medication. Do not use prepared medicated food older than 10 days.

DO NOT OVERDOSE — Calculate your tank’s actual water volume by multiplying length × width × height and dividing by 238 to get the true gallons. Deduct the space taken up by substrate (gravel, sand, etc.), rocks, decorations, or other items displacing water.

WARNING: Never use this product with permanganate-based treatments. IntestiPro® is harmful to invertebrates, including snails, crayfish, shrimp, and others. We do not recommend using any sulfur or sulfinite-based water conditioners with this product. If your water conditioner’s ingredients are not listed, verify with the manufacturer that it does not contain these substances.
